Marthinus Koen the founding member of Guardian Forensic Services is a qualified professional with extensive experience in the forensic audit and investigative accounting environment. Marthinus started off his in career as an officer with the Commercial Crime Units of the South African Police Services, where he was involved in the investigation of serious economic offenses for a period of 5 years.
For a period of 5 years Marthinus held senior management positions in the corporate environment with organisations such as Toyota South Africa (Pty) Ltd and Vericon Outsourcing (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Bidvest, responsible for the provision of investigation and risk management related services to these entities.
Marthinus also operated within the forensic accounting consulting environment, where he held the positions of Divisional Director and Chief Project Officer respectively at the professional forensic consulting firms of Gobodo Forensic and Investigative Accounting Services (Pty) Ltd and Ramathe Fivaz Forensic and Investigative Accounting Services (Pty) Ltd for a period of 4 years.
Marthinus returned to public service where for 4 years he held the positions of Director: Forensic Audit and Director: Risk Management with the Gauteng Provincial Government, providing a forensic audit and investigative services to all 12 departments of the Gauteng Provincial Government, its trading entities and the Gauteng Legislature.
Marthinus was personally responsible for the development of a provincial anti-corruption strategy and fraud prevention strategies for public service institutions, including the Gauteng Departments of Health, Public Transport, Roads and Works, Education, Social Development, Agriculture and Environmental Affairs, Finance and Economic Affairs, Sport, Arts and Culture, Local Government, Housing and the Gauteng Shared Service Centre, the Gauteng Economic Development Agency, the Independent Development Trust, the South African Post Office and the National Productivity Institute.
Marthinus has testified in a number of criminal matters and has acted as chairperson and initiator respectively at a significant number of disciplinary proceedings. He also served on strategic committees, including the national anti-corruption co-coordinating committee and the Gauteng provincial anti-corruption committee.
